System Requirements

The following are the official system requirements for BATTLEGROUNDS.

PC System Requirements[edit | edit source]

Current System Requirements as of March 2017 from Steam Early Access.

Minimum
OS 64-bit Operating Systems (Windows 7, Windows 8.1 & Windows 10)
Processor Intel Core i3-4340 / AMD FX-6300
GPU nVidia GeForce GTX 660 2GB / AMD Radeon HD 7850 2 GB
HD Space 30 GB available space
RAM 6 GB RAM
DirectX Version 11

Very low settings are more CPU-intensive, while higher settings are more GPU-intensive.

Many people with minimum specs report that they have inconsistent framerates, caution advised.

How to Uncap Your Framerate[edit | edit source]

This guide is courtesy of the Battle Royale Games subreddit. The following guide shows you how to uncap your framerate in PLAYERUNKNOWN's BATTLEGROUNDS:

  • Step 1: Navigate to C:\Users\WINDOWS LOGON NAME\AppData\Local\TslGame\Saved\Config\WindowsNoEditor
  • Step 2: Open the "GameUserSettings" file in the "WindowsNoEditor" folder.
  • Step 3: Now edit FrameRateLimit= ... to whatever you want.

How to Get Better FPS In-Game[edit | edit source]

This guide is provided courtesy of Azgoodaz. The following guide shows you how to better FPS (frames per second) in-game in PLAYERUNKNOWN's BATTLEGROUNDS:

Back when Alpha 2 Test was playable (in November - December of 2016), there were some FPS issues (due to the fact that the game was in Alpha). But, I'm here to inform you have FPS solutions on how to get better FPS, if for some reason your getting FPS issues/drops on your computer. If someone else is having problems, you can just lead them here.

Note: Optimization is a key focus for the dev team, but sadly until it gets resolved. Here are ways to get better FPS.

Note 2: If you don't have an above average build and use OBS to record/stream. You WILL get FPS drops because OBS needs the CPU.

It seems like Testers (and I) were getting bad FPS drops.

My specs w/ the game running on all Medium settings runs at 27 - 45 FPS in-game (Alpha 2 Test).

Now in Early Access, I get between 40 - 70 FPS in-game (depending on the city, etc), but mostly this FPS with a mixture of both low and medium settings.

Windows 10 / 14393.953
Intel Core i5-6600 3.3GHz Quad-Core Processor
Kingston HyperX Fury Black 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1866
EVGA GeForce GTX 950 2GB ATX FTW GAMING

Solution 1[edit | edit source]

Unreal Engine 4 is resource heavy. This means close down all programs (including web browsers) if you don't have an above average PC.

Solution 2[edit | edit source]

You can access settings to change your FPS - if you raise it, you get better frames but worse performance, if you lower it, the inverse is true.

  • Step 1: C:\Users\PC NAME\AppData\Local\TslGame\Saved\Config\WindowsNoEditor
  • Step 2: Open the "GameUserSettings" file in the "WindowsNoEditor" folder.
  • Step 3: From here, you can now edit ShadowQuality, PostProcessQuality and more... To whatever you want.
  • Step 4: When you edit the file, right click on the file, go to Properties and check mark it as 'Ready Only.'

You can also change to "ViewDistanceQuality: 1", which will increase your FPS.

Solution 3[edit | edit source]

Even though the game already uses all your CPU cores. You can still implement this launch command to gain/boost in a few FPS.

  • Step 1: Right click on the game in Steam
  • Step 2: Click on 'Properties'
  • Step 3: Click on 'Set launch options'
  • Step 4: Add -USEALLAVAILABLECORES -malloc=system (people also stated that you can use "-malloc=system" or you can just use "-USEALLAVAILABLECORES") to the text box.

Thanks to Rexeh (Dev/Admin) from the Battle Royale Games Discord Server showing me this launch command.

Solution 4[edit | edit source]

Posted by Dayzru on [forums.playbattlegrounds.com]:

"Looks like the workaround with setting the CPU cores affinity does work for me." Game ran smooth without any freezing for them as stated by Dayzru (on the BATTLEGROUNDS forums).

Note: If you use the 3rd solution with this 4th solution. Your CPU may get hot at times. You have been warned.

  • 1: Press ctrl+alt+delete (or right click on the taskbar)
  • 2: Open task manager
  • 3: Make sure game is running, not just launcher.
  • 4: Go to the tab "Processes" (for Windows 10 users, it's under "Details")
  • 5: Find the one (or two) called something like "PLAYERUNKNOWN'S BATTLEGROUNDS or BATTLEGROUNDS."
  • 6: Right click that one
  • 7: Choose 'Set Affinity'
  • 8: Uncheck CPU 3
  • 9: Press OK. The game will now be working.
